The Nur Ceramic Zir Vessel is a harmonious blend of artistic expression and cultural significance.
The Zir, a Nubian word for a water storage amphorae that is traditionally seen in pairs, is a symbol of Nubian generosity as these vessels were placed outside of homes for passer-bys and travelers to quench their thirst.
This vessel was crafted using traditional methods with semi-porous clay. The wide belly and tapered bottom of each side are joined together by a handle sturdy enough to be carried by. This shape pays homage to the skillfully designed vessels that kept water cool in the high desert temperatures.
Measures approximately: 13" x 5" x 8"
Made by Nur Ceramics in Brooklyn, NY.
